Six days and five nights in Yosemite, the first land the United States decided to protect, in 1864. We go in October for three things: the whole valley in yellow, the mist over the meadows at dawn, and a quarter of the people you get in high season.

- Five nights' lodging at the base hotel in Oakhurst, minutes from the park's South entrance
- Photography instruction every day, in the field and in the evening sessions
- A working session every evening at the hotel: editing and portfolio critique
- A closing screening where each participant presents their three images of the week
- Ground transport throughout the week

What we will do
Day by day
Day 1: arrival and first sunset at Bass Lake
Arrival, gear calibration and a first practice sunset at Bass Lake. In the evening, the first working session at the hotel.
Day 2: the whole valley, from Tunnel View to alpenglow
Sunrise at Tunnel View, Bridalveil Fall, El Capitan Meadow, and alpenglow over Half Dome to close.
Day 3: Glacier Point and the sun inside the frame
Glacier Point, the climb to Sentinel Dome and sunset at Taft Point with the sun inside the frame.
Day 4: Mariposa Grove in the fog
Thousand-year-old sequoias in the morning fog, and a quiet afternoon closing in the Wawona meadow.
Day 5: autumn colour and the moon over Half Dome
The day of autumn colour. Late in the afternoon the full moon rises nine minutes after sunset and lines up over Half Dome seen from Tunnel View. That night is the closing screening.
